As a passionate volunteer of Surfrider Vancouver, I am thrilled to share some amazing Earth Month events happening in April 2023. This month is all about raising awareness, inspiring action, and celebrating the beauty of our planet. There are countless ways to show your love for the Earth, and these five events hosted by local environmental organizations and charities in Vancouver are a great place to start!

1. Surfrider Vancouver's Earth Day Clean Up at Garry Point

Join us on April 22nd at Garry Point Park for our annual Earth Day Clean Up! This event is all about removing litter from our coastline and leaving it cleaner than we found it. Together, we will make a significant impact on the health of our oceans and the environment. Don't forget to bring your gloves, pickers/tongs and let's clean up for a better future!

2. Earth Day Film Screening at Food Stash - Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story

Friday, April 21, 2023
6:00 PM 8:30 PM

Join Food Stash for a cozy film viewing and Q&A with local Food Rescue charity Food Stash, and special guest Jenny Rustemeyer, producer of Just Eat It!

3. David Suzuki Foundation's Nature Walks

Throughout April, the David Suzuki Foundation will be organizing a series of guided nature walks in various locations across Vancouver. These walks are aimed at reconnecting people with the natural world and inspiring a deeper appreciation for the environment. Find a walk near you and experience the beauty of Vancouver's green spaces.

4. Ocean Wise's Plastic-Free Workshops

Ocean Wise is hosting a series of Plastic-Free Workshops during Earth Month. These workshops will teach you practical ways to reduce your plastic consumption and help protect our oceans. Learn how to make your own reusable produce bags, beeswax wraps, and more! Sign up for a workshop today and start your journey towards a plastic-free lifestyle.

5. Stanley Park Ecology Society's Earth Month BioBlitz

Join the Stanley Park Ecology Society on April 29th for their Earth Month BioBlitz. This citizen science event invites participants to explore the park, identify as many species as possible, and contribute to important biodiversity research. It's a fun way to learn about the incredible ecosystems that call Stanley Park home.

Don't miss out on these fantastic Earth Month events happening in Vancouver this April 2023. Let's come together as a community and make a positive impact on our planet! Surf’s up Vancouver.
